- Click here to download InstallMotionGenesisToCDrivePC.exe (or use the indirect link).
- On your computer, find the downloaded file InstallMotionGenesisToCDrivePC.exe.
- On your computer, double-click on InstallMotionGenesisToCDrivePC.exe and install.
Click here if you get the message: "This app can't run on your PC. To find the version for your PC, check with the software publisher."
- On your computer, change folders to C:\MotionGenesis.
i.e., change directories to the root (top-level) of your computer's hard drive => then MotionGenesis.
- From within your computer's MotionGenesis folder, double-click on MotionGenesisStartHere.
- Did the MotionGenesis™ Kane program start with a BLUE (not black) background ?
- Software license problems ? (if not skip this item)

- A. Ensure the MotionGenesis USER is the person logged into the computer.
Note: MotionGenesis™ Kane is usually licensed to a single user.
- B. The license agreement should appear. Type Y (YES) if you agree.
- C. Answer the question: "Have you purchased and are you ready to request a license? (Y/N):"
If this question does not appear, type ComputerID at the MotionGenesis command prompt.
- D. Enter a single letter (a-f) for license version and a number (e.g., 1 or 2) for license duration.
- E. Enter your name and organization/school.
- F. Use your mouse to HIGHLIGHT the on-screen MG-computer ID.
- G. Press ENTER to copy the MG-computer ID to the computer's clipboard.
- H. Paste the MG-computer ID into an e-mail to MotionGenesis (e.g., use Ctrl-V to paste).
- I. Within a few days, receive an e-mail from MotionGenesis with an attached file MGLicense.txt.
If not, resend your e-mail license request to MotionGenesis .
- J. Move the file MGLicense.txt to your computer's C:\MotionGenesis folder.
- K. Redo steps #5, #6, and #7A above.
- L. If any on-screen licensing error messages appear, please send them to MotionGenesis .
Note: The license may stop working if you change your ComputerName or UserName
(or number of processors or hyper-threading or processor architecture, ...).
- Type Plot at the MotionGenesis™ Kane line prompt.
- Click the Function button and enter the function -- the default function is sin(x).
Click the View Graph button. A graph should appear.
- To quit, type exit at the MotionGenesis™ Kane line prompt.
- Do some of the two minute Get-Started exercises.

If you get this error it may be due to a corrupt or incomplete install file.
Re-download the installation file. Most time, this fixes the problem
(the installer is approximately 13.5 MB).

| If there is a 32/64-bit problem with the installer, try the following:
|
|
1. Right-click on InstallMotionGenesisToCDrivePC.exe
|
|
2. From the pull-down menu, select Properties.
|
|
3. Click the Compatibility tab.
|
|
4. Check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for"
|
|
5. Choose: "Windows XP Service Pack 3"
|
|
6. Again run the installer by double-clicking on InstallMotionGenesisToCDrivePC.exe
|
|
| If there is a 32/64-bit problem with the MotionGenesis.exe program, try the following:

1. Go to your computer's MotionGenesis folder, usually at at C:\MotionGenesis
|
|
2. Right-click on MotionGenesis.exe
|
|
3. From the pull-down menu, select Properties.
